Good afternoon, This is a message from Michael Calla, Superintendent of Sharon Schools. This afternoon the Sharon Middle/High School received a phone call that threatened violence against the school. The building, along with Case Avenue, C. M. Musser and West Hill Elementary were immediately put on lock down. The Sharon Police Department responded to the threat with full force and ensured the safety of all students and staff. Both the District and Police take all such threats seriously and will continue to work with the Police Department to determine the individual or individuals who chose to threaten the schools and will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. I want to thank the Sharon Police department, the Sharon City School District administrative team and staff who handled this situation effectively and appropriately.
Sharon Parents: The Walberg Family Pharmacy will be hosting a Pfizer COVID Vaccination Clinic for adolescents ages 12 years and older at the Passavant Center at Thiel College on Tuesday 6/1/2021 from 3:00pm-7:00pm.

The PA Association of Intermediate Units and Penn State Extension have teamed up to conduct a survey regarding the need for internet services in our families and community . Sharon High School's Boy's Baseball and Girl's Softball teams have qualified for the District 10 playoff tournaments. The Boys will play Franklin High at Slippery Rock University on Monday, May 24, 2021, beginning at 6:30 PM. Attention Sharon HS 9-11 Grade Students and Parents:

The School District is still operating under mitigation rules for capacity and mask wearing. Due to this, Recognition Day is closed to all visitors. If your child received an award for this year’s ceremony, parents will be mailed a letter from our guidance office. Only those students who are receiving awards will take part within recognition day this year in order to adhere to the district's mitigation rules. If you are a virtual student and received a letter in the mail for an award on this day, we ask that you please report to the office prior to the ceremony to get your temperature taken. We ask that all parents access the link above to view the ceremony.
Academic Boosters Club: In order to again follow mitigation efforts in the auditorium on Recognition Day, those students receiving certificates from the Academic Boosters Club for cumulative G.P.A.’s of 86.25 or higher for the first three quarters will receive their award certificate in the mail with their report card. The Sharon City School District, in cooperation with Rite Aid Pharmacy, will hold a student vaccination clinic on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Sharon Middle/High School. This clinic will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for any student, ages 16 and older. The 2021 Sharon Prom will be held at Tiffany's in Brookfield, Ohio this year. The dance will be held from 7:00-11:00pm. Tickets may be purchased from Ms. Sandine in room 313 until May 5th during and after school. If you are planning on purchasing tickets after school, please email Ms. Sandine at melinda_sandine@sharonsd.org to ensure she is available. Tickets are $75 for a couple and $37.50 for a single. All Non-Sharon date forms are due at the time of ticket purchase along with any obligations that are due. Ms. Sandine has the list if you need her to check it for you.

The District is also working to schedule an on-site vaccination clinic for students (and family members) in the near future...more information to come.
Sharon Middle and High School will be moving to full virtual instruction status beginning tomorrow, Thursday, April 22, 2021 and return to in-person instruction on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. This move is being made following consultation with the PA Department of Health and is due to a continued spike in the number of positive COVID-19 cases that have been reported by individuals within the building. The parents of any student who may have been in close contact with an infected individual have been notified and those students have been placed on quarantine. The building will be isolated for 24 hours and then undergo a complete deep clean before the students and staff return for instruction. Students have been asked to take their Chromebooks and chargers home today. If they did not do so, please reach out to your child’s teacher for direction. Due to this move to virtual all activities at the Middle/High School have been suspended and will reactivate on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Please be reminded that meals will still be provided at the Middle/High School at no charge between 9:45 and 10:15 am each school day for those wishing to participate.
